The Department of Physics admits students who have passed the school-leaving examination at the Higher Secondary level. Admissions are through the All-India IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). This is held in two tiers: a Screening Test in the middle of April, followed by the Main Test in the middle of May. | The Department of Physics admits students who have passed (or are appearing for the final examinations) in B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons.) (three-year programmes only). Admissions are through the All-India JAM (Joint Admission to M.Sc.) Examination. This is generally held in the second week of May. | |

Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programme | Ph.D. (Graduate) Programme | |
The Department of Physics admits students who have passed (or are appearing for the final examinations) in B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons.) (three-year programmes only). Admissions are through the All-India JAM (Joint Admission to M.Sc.) Examination. This is generally held in the second week of May. | The Physics Department admits students who have completed their M.Sc. degree (or have appeared for their M.Sc. final examinations) on the basis of performance in a written examination and interview conducted by the Department. Normally selections are made in May and December, but exceptional candidates may apply for a walk-in interview. | |
