Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore invites applications for
Ph. D, Integrated Ph. D, M. S. (Engg.) and M. Sc. by research - (Biological Sciences) for academic session 2009-2010
The Research Programmes are available in the following Units
Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit
Engineering Mechanics Unit
Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit
Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit and
Theoretical Sciences Unit
Candidates with an M Sc., B E, B Tech, M E, M Tech or MBBS are eligible to apply; the specific requirements for each Unit are available at http://www.jncasr.ac.in . They should have at least 50% in their highest University examination, and should also have qualified in the GATE / UGC - CSIR - NET, JRF / ICMR, JRF / JEST / or any other advanced entrance examination. Candidates with a Master's degree in Engineering/Technology/ Medicine, however, do not require a qualifying exam. (Typically the selected candidates are either CSIR qualified or have GATE/JEST percentile score of 90 or above).
M.S. (Engg.) / M.S. Eligibilty

Integrated Ph. D. Eligibilty
This programme is offered only in the area of Materials Science. Candidates will be selected through an entrance test consisting of written examination (multiple choice questions) on chemistry, physics and mathematics followed by an oral examination. Students who have passed a Bachelor's degree in any branch of science or engineering or are appearing for final exam this year are eligible to apply, provided they secure a minimum of 55% marks in their degree.
