Guidelines for filling up online Application
Institute for plasma Research (IPR) is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
IPR is also actively involved in the development and popularization of plasma technologies relevant to Indian industries under the banner of Facilitation Center for Industrial Plasma Technologies (FCIPT).
ITER-India is a specially empowered project within Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar, Gujarat State for the design, development, procurement and commissioning of some of the systems, which would be India's share in ITER construction. IPR is also empowered to develop the high end and cutting edge technologies relevant to future fusion tokamak reactors and also develop technical manpower for taking care of the future needs of the nation in this field.
The Institute for Plasma Research offers excellent career opportunities to Engineers and Scientists.
More information on the Institute can be found on the website http://www.ipr.res.in; about FCIPT http://www.plasmaindia.com/ and about ITER-India on website http://iter-india.res.in
The Technical Training Program (TTP)
The candidates selected under this program are given one-year training in the science and technologies related to the creation and diagnostics of variety of plasmas for a wide range of applications and allied technologies. On successful completion of the training, the trainees will be appointed as Scientist / Engineer – SC in IPR or ITER-India.
Those selected in IPR will primarily work in the country's domestic fusion program and industrial plasma applications.
Offer of appointment in case of ITER-India are project appointments for the period of construction phase of ITER (about 10 years), but are likely to continue further into the operation phase (about 20 years).
HOW TO APPLY:
Choose your discipline as detailed out in Table 1 below while filling up the application form.
Select the option of the branch option for post at IPR, at ITER-India or for both the places. (read details in above paragraph for more details on this)
Make sure you have the necessary qualifying degree (mentioned in table 1 against each post and also satisfy all the "eligibility criteria" specified below.

Candidates will be selected for TTP-2009 program in following seven disciplines.
TABLE – 1 | ||
Discipline | Code | Qualifying Degree Required |
Physics | 10 | M.Sc. in Physics / Applied Physics after a B.Sc. degree OR an Integrated M.Sc. B.E. / B.Tech. in Engg. Physics is also eligible, provided it is a minimum of 4 years curriculum after Class XII. |
Electrical | 20 | B.E. / B. Tech. / B.Sc. (Engg.) (provided it is a minimum 4 years curriculum in the appropriate discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, Material Science & Engineering). |
Mechanical | 60 | |
Chemical | 40 | |
Metallurgy /Material Science | 50 | |
Instrumentation | 70 | |
Electronics & Communication | 30 | B.E. / B. Tech. / B.Sc. (Engg.) (provided it is a minimum 4 years OR M.Sc. (Tech.) in the appropriate discipline after a B.Sc. |
Candidates with specialization in Production Engg / Industrial Engg / Bio-Medical Engg. are NOT eligible for TTP-2009.
Membership of Professional bodies in the field of Engineering does note qualify a candidate to apply unless he / she has the above-mentioned Qualifying Degree from a recognized University / Institute.
Candidate already having a Ph.D. need not apply.
Candidates with M.Sc. physics with electronics or Material Science a specialization can apply under discipline 10 only.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPLYING:
If you have completed your Qualifying Degree, you must have obtained at least 60% marks AND First Division as indicated in your degree certificate / final mark sheet (to be attached).

However, you must be in a position to furnish mark sheet for VI AND VII or at least V and VI semesters (or M.Sc. Ist year marks in case of Physics). These mark sheets (to be attached) should indicate that you have at least 60% in each of these two semesters or in M.Sc. Ist year.
Those applying for engineering disciplines should have completed B.E. / B. Tech. in their respective disciplines in first class from a govt. recognized university. Preference would be given to fresh candidates who have passed in 2008 or later.
4. Those applying for Physics disciplines should have completed M.Sc. in Physics / Applied Physics / Engineering Physics from a govt. recognized university with first class. Preference would be given to fresh candidates who have passed in 2008 or later.
Important Notes:
