LANGUAGE FOR NGPE: ENGLISH, HINDI, GUJARATI, TAMIL, TELUGU OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE IF 100 STUDENTS OPT FOR IT

Unique Features of this Examination: Tension free examination. Fully voluntary in character. The only national level examination testing students in theory and experiment. Individual's own assessment at all India level. Carry awary the question paper both part A and part B. Solutions in Printed Form are provided to centre In-charge for each examinee. Single question paper for all BSc I, II and III students with separate national merit.

ELIGIBILITY: Students of BSc I, II and III (Pass, Hons. or Integrated) are eligible. (Any one who has already passed BSc. is NOT eligible)


QUESTION PAPER CONTAINS:Part A: 25 Multiple Choice Questions. Any NUmber of options (1,2, 3 or all 4) may be correct. Credit is given only if all the correct otions are marked (6 marks each; Total 150 Marks) Part B1: B1 to B10; Ten Short Answer (5 to 6 Lines) Questions (5 Marks each; Total 50 Marks) Part B2: P1 to P10; Ten Problems (10 Marks each; Total 100 Marks)
CERTIFICATE AND AWARDS FOR BEING IN: TOP 10% at Each Centre: Certificate TOP 1% at State Level: Merit Certificate TOP 1% at National Level: Merit Certificate + Book Prize and Following

National Standard Examination At B.Sc. level -

National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE), is conducted on similar lines as NSEP.

Recognition:  S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, allows direct admission to toppers in NGPE, after an interview, in their integrated Ph.D. programme.

Scholarships:  A number of scholarships (subject to a maximum of 5) have been instituted to encourage students to take-up physics as a career. Those who seek admission in M.Sc. (physics) after NGPE, are eligible for these scholarships.
