OPPORTUNITY FOR REGISTERING FOR Ph.D. UNDER AcSIR IN FRONTIER AREAS OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES
The CSIR-Natiotial Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi, a premier research laboratory in India in the field of Physical & related Sciences, provides excellent ambience that fosters creativity and innovative thinking along with state-of-the-art research facilities in frontline research areas of Physical Sciences. NPL invites applications from M.Sc./M.Tech students for admission to its Ph.D. (Science) programme in Physical Sciences. CSIR-NPL has currently about 100 students registered under Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), NTs, NITs, DTU and other prestigious universities. This is an unique opportunity for getting registered for Ph.D. (in August 2012 session) and working underthe supervision from a pool of about 200 experienced scientists working in cutting-edge research areas of Physical Science and Technology. The Ph.D. students are also encouraged to present their research papers in national and international conferences. The laboratory also provides furnished hostel accommodation (separately for boys and girls) in a secured campus, which is Wi-Fi enabled.
Research Areas: NPL has very active research groups working in the areas of quantum phenomena based measurement standards, precision measurements, quantum physics, engineering materials, electronic materials, nano-science & nano-technology, materials characterization, radio and atmospheric sciences, global climate change and environmental sciences, energy harvesting technologies, spintronics, surface science, thin-film technology, plasmonics, graphene and carbon nanotube research, superconductivity & cryogenics, and instrumentation.
Eligibility: A Master degree with 60% marks or equivalent in Physical/Chemical/Engineering Sciences with a valid National Level Fellowship (JRF/SRF of various funding agencies), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowship.
Application: You can apply on-line through the centralized admission website (www.acsir.res.in) by selecting CSIR-NPL as your preferred laboratory. The last date for submission of on-line applications is 18th May, 2012.
