The Department of Earth and Space Sciences of IIST is organizing its second Astronomy and Astrophysics Winter School from December 2 - 11, 2013. The objective of this school is to acquaint students on topics in the broad areas of astrophysics. The lectures will be at a fundamental level with introductions to more advanced topics. There will be also hands-on astronomical data analysis sessions.

Students belonging to any of the following categories are eligible to apply for the winter school

• M Sc Physics - First or Second Year
• Integrated MS (Physics) - Fourth Year
• B.Tech (Engineering Physics) - Fourth year

Interested candidates should download the application from the above registration link and email us a scanned copy of the completed form on or before September 15, 2013

The selected participants for the winter school will be intimated through email before October 1, 2013. The list of selected participants will also be published on this webpage.

All selected participants will be provided round trip train fare (sleeper class) for the shortest route. Local hospitality including food and accommodation will be taken care of by IIST. There will be a registration fee of Rs. 500 which the selected participants have to pay when reporting for the school.
