Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. - JAM 2014ABOUT JAM:Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) 2014 will be held on 9th February, 2014 (Sunday) for admission to Integrated Ph.D. degree programs at lISc Bangalore (HSc) and M.Sc, (two-years). Joint M,Sc,-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual degree and other post-bachelor's degree programs at NTs (Bhubaneswar (IITBBS), Bombay (IITB), Delhi (IITD), Gandhinagar (IITGN), Guwahati (IITG), Hyderabad (NTH), Indore (IITI), Kanpur (IITK), Kharagpur (IITKgp), Madras (IITM) and Roorkee (IITR)) for the academic session 2014-15.
JAM 2014 is open to all nationals. However, foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students for admission, JAM 2014 is being organized by IIT Kanpur.
All correspondences related to JAM 2014 must be addressed to Organizing Chairman, GATE/JAM Office, IIT Kanpur, Kanpur-208016.
Test Papers: JAM 2014 will have seven test papers, namely. Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH), each of three hours duration. The questions for BL and BT test papers will be of fully objective type while the other test papers will be of objective cum subjective type. A candidate can appear in either one or two test papers subject to the restrictions of test schedule given below by paying an additional fee for the second test paper.

Note: JAM 2014 Committee may add and/or drop any city as a test center at its discretion.
APPLICATION FORMS and INFORMATION BROCHURES: The information brochure or any other information related to JAM 2014 will be uploaded on the website: http://gatv.litk.ac.in/jam from time to time. A candidate can apply/register for JAM 2014 through Online process only during 161 September to 16' October, 2013. A student has to first register as a user on the JAM-2014 website. Then the candidate needs to fill-in all the personal data. Once all the personal data is submitted (the personal data cannot be changed at a later stage) the candidate can make a payment either through net-banking or through challan. In case choose to pay through net-banking, the site will take you to a secure site from which the payment can be made and then you will be directed back to JAM-2014 website for taking printout of the online registration form. In case you choose to pay through challan, you can generate a PDF-file of the challan, latest by 12m October, 2013. The challan needs to be presented, the next day, to any Core Banking Branch of State Bank of India for payment. After two days of making the payment, you will be allowed to login into your JAM-2014 account for updating the information related to challan payment and only then you will be able to take a printout of the online registration form. The payment is to be made to the account of "Chairman JAM, State Bank of India, IIT Kanpur Branch, A/C No. 30733644428 and IFSC Code: SBIN0001161".The details of application fees are given below:

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION: Please refer to the JAM-2014 website: http://gate.iitk.ac.in/jam and/or the JAM websites of the respective institutes.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION: For llSc Bangalore: first class (as declared by the university) for General/OBC category candidates and second class (as declared by the university) or 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, for SC/ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree. For IIT Guwahati: At least (a) 55% marks in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including languages and subsidiaries Or (b) 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates; and at least (a) 50% marks in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including languages and subsidiaries Or (b) 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree. For all other HTs, at least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects. Including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PD Category candidates in the qualifying degree. For candidates with tetter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks) the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s). Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30m September, 2014. Reservation Policy: As per Government of India norms.
JOINT ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Admission to the above mentioned academic programs in llSc Bangalore and NTs for the academic session 2014-15 will be made on the basis of all India merit list of JAM 2014. For some of the programs at llSc, IITB, IITK and IITM, the short listed candidates will, additionally, have to face an interview. Candidates who qualify in any test paper shall be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programs corresponding to that test paper, provided they also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and the essential eligibility requirements, as specified by the Institute(s) in which the admission is sought. After the declaration of JAM 2014 results, qualified candidates shall be required to apply, specifying their preferences for the programs for which the admission is sought, to the Organizing Institute (IIT Kanpur). Candidates should note that being in the merit list of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission. Further details regarding admissions, prescribed fees, etc., shall be available on the IITK JAM website.
