The Online registration for CAT, LET and PG programmes including M.Tech and MBA programmes (CMAT/MAT/CAT score required for MBA) of Cochin University for Science and Technology (CUSAT) for 2015-16 admissions will commence at www.cusat.nic.in on 5th January, 2015.
Admission to various courses are based on Common Admission Test (CAT)/Departmental Admission Test (DAT)/Test for Lateral Entry (LET) and C-MAT(AICTE)/MAT(AIMA)/CAT(IIM) score for MBA.
For First Degree Programmes (B.Tech. and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics), the CAT will be conducted on All-India basis with test centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Ranchi, Varanasi, Kota, Dubai, Thiruvananathapuram, Kollam, Adoor (Pathanamthitta), Thodupuzha (Idukki), Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kalpatta (Wayanad) and Kasaragod.
For all other programmes except 3 year LLB/Lateral entry programme, the test will be conducted at specified centres within Kerala. For 3 year LLB and Lateral entry programme, the admission tests will be conducted at Ernakulam only.
The Departmental Admission Tests (DATs) are conducted in the University campus by the individual Departments/ Schools/Centres of the University. The dates of these tests will be announced separately by the individual departments.
Test for First Degree Programmes in Engineering and Technology (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) will be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on 2.5.2015 (Saturday). Test for MA Applied Economics will be from 9.30 am to 11.30 am; the Aptitude Test for B.B.A. L.L.B. (Hons.) /Aptitude Test for B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.), Test for MA Hindi from 2 pm to 4 pm & Test for MIP-PhD & LLM-PhD from 2 pm to 5 pm on 2.5.2015.
The Test for Post -Graduate programmes (Biotechnology, Botany, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electronics, Engineering Science, Fisheries, Geology, Law (for LL.M), Life Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics , Zoology, Instrumentation, Food Science will be from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, Aptitude Test for M.C.A from 12 pm to 2 pm; Test for 3 year LLB Course (Centre of Exam only in Ernakulam/Kochi) from 3 pm to 5 pm on 3.05.2015 (Sunday). Test for Lateral Entry to B .Tech Programmes (Centre of Exam only in Ernakulam/Kochi) will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 10.05.2015 (Sunday). Dates for different Department Aptitude Tests (DAT) for the M.Tech programmes and Group Discussions / Interview for the MBA Admissions will be announced later by the respective Departments / Schools.
First Degree Programmes include BTech Programmes in Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Mechanical Safety and Fire (all Self financing), Polymer Science & Engineering, 5 year Integrated M.Sc Photonics, B Tech in Instrumentation Technology, Marine Engineering (Residential, Self-financing), Naval Architecture and Ship Building, 5 year BBA.LL.B (Hons) (Cost sharing) and 5 year B.Com LL.B (Hons) (Cost sharing).
For admission to B.Tech Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Mechanical Safety and Fire, Polymer Science & Engineering, 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics, applicant should have passed the Plus Two Examination of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
For admission to B.Tech in Instrumentation Technology, applicant should have passed the Plus Two Examination of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects securing a minimum of 55% marks in Mathematics and 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
For admission to B.Tech Marine Engineering (Residential Programme) applicant should have passed the Plus Two Examination of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English as separate subjects with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics together and minimum 50% for Mathematics & should have passed English at 10th or 12th Standards with 50% marks. All these stipulations are applicable to SC/ST applicants also. Vocational/Diploma students are not eligible to apply. Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of admission. Eligibility for admission is based on the directions from the DG shipping.
Fro B Tech in Marine Engineering, applicant should have passed the Plus Two Examination of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with a first class (60%) and minimum 50% Mathematics, as well as for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry together.
For 5 year BBA LL.B (Hons), applicant should have a Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science / Commerce group or 55% marks in Arts /Humanities and should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission (22 years in the case of SC / ST and OBC candidates).
For 5 year B.Com LL.B (Hons), applicant should have a Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce / Arts /Humanities; should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission (22 years in the case of SC / ST and OBC candidates).
Those who have taken their 10+2 or degree through distance or correspondence method are eligible to apply for B.B.A LL.B. and B.Com.LL.B (Hons.), whereas those who passed the course through Open University Scheme without any basic qualifications are ineligible for admission to this course. SC/ST applicants are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying examination except for B.Tech in Marine Engineering. SEBC Candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in marks (Under Graduate Programmes) except for B.Tech in Marine Engineering.
PG Programmes coming under the Common Admission Test include 3 year LL.B, LL.M, M.A. Hindi Language and Literature, M.B.A. (Full-time ) M.B.A. (Part-time ) M.B.A.(Travel & Tourism) M.B.A (International Business), M.A. Applied Economics, MCA (Regular and Cost Sharing), M.Sc Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biopolymer Science, Electronics Science, Environmental Technology, Hydrochemistry, Industrial Fisheries, Instrumentation, Marine Biology, Marine Geology, Marine Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Oceanography, Physics, M.F.Sc Sea Food Safety and Trade, Statistics, and Dual Degree Programmes Master of Intellectual Property (MIP),Ph.D and LL.M (IPR) Ph.D Degree.

Admissions to the various M.Tech Programmes will be based on valid GATE score as prescribed under the academic regulations specific to each programme. Candidates not possessing GATE may also apply, but will be considered only if GATE qualified candidates are not available. In such cases, admissions will be based on the DAT conducted by the respective Departments. Lateral entry to B. Tech third semester through LET is available for Civil Engg., Computer Science & Engg., Electrical & Electronics Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg., Information Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Mechanical Engg., Polymer Science & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engg. Applicant should have any three year Diploma in Engineering/Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala with not less than 60% marks. The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.
Of the total seats for B.Tech (Self-Financing) programmes, 50% are State Merit seats, 40% are All India Merit seats and 10% are NRI payment seats. The State Merit seats are earmarked for Keralites only. Communal reservation is applicable only for candidates who are the natives of Kerala as per Kerala Govt. Rules. For B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Instrumentation and Polymer Science & Engineering 10% of the seats are reserved for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining seats for Keralites. For all regular Post-Graduate Programmes including subsidized Post-Graduate programmes like M.C.A., M.B.A. (International Business), and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics programme 10% of the seats are set apart for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining for Keralites. Online registration for CAT, LET and PG programmes including M.Tech and MBA programmes (CMAT/MAT/CAT score required for MBA) can be done between 5.01.2015 and 24.01.2015. Remittance of fee at Bank (through chalan/net banking) can be carried out between 7.01.2015 and 29.01.2015. Extended online registration, only for M.Tech and MBA programme (CMAT/MATG-MAT score for MBA) (GATE score for M.Tech), will be available between 01.03.2015 and 30.04.2015.
Issue and receipt of DAT Applications from Departments for admissions to M.Phil & PhD & Diploma Programmes will be done between 5.01.2015 and 01.02.2015. The facility for downloading the Admit Card of CAT from the website www..cusat.nic.in will be available between 20.4.2015 and 03.5.2015. LET Admit Cards can be downloaded from the website www..cusat.nic.in from 20.4.2015 to 10.5.2015.
The online application submission to be done at http://cusat.nic.in/ is a two-stage process. In the first stage, applicant should submit a few basic details such as Name, Date of Birth, email-id, mobile phone no, etc to get a user-id and password by SMS/email. In the second stage, applicant should login using this user-id and password. Immediately, applicant will be asked to change the password.
Applicants have to submit all other details required in the online registration form and upload recent passport size (color) photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB and 100 KB and signature (3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with file size between 1 KB and 30 KB). Once the application is confirmed by pressing the CONFIRM button, no further changes are possible. In the chalan payment mode, applicant should choose his/her bank first and then take printout of the chalan form along with the instructions page and make payment in the bank after two working days from the date of registration. Payment can also be made from any Internet Banking enabled SBI/SBT a/c. Applicant should Login to the internet banking account. Choose ‘Payments/Transfers’.
Choose ‘Power Jyothi Fee Collection (PUL)’. Enter the fee type as printed in chalan and then click ‘Submit’ button. In the ‘Validation Date’ box enter date of birth as printed in the chalan. In the ‘Fee Reference No’ box, enter registration no as printed in the chalan. Then click ‘confirm’ button to complete the transaction. Applicant should note down transaction number for future reference. After completing the registration process, applicant should logout. Applicant is not required to send any document in original or copy to the University, unless otherwise specifically requested for.
The status of application can be checked after two working days from the date of payment of fee. If the application is approved, printout of the application confirmation should be taken from the web site. If the application submitted by the candidate is not approved within the time, the applicant should take necessary action as indicated in the status page.
